WHAT:  Let's go to the Channel Islands together in a time of fellowship!  We'll take a short boat trip and visit Santa Cruz Island, landing at Scorpion's Cove.

WHEN:  Cancelled May 4, 2024

WHO:  All are welcome. If you are under 18, please make sure you have a parent or guardian.

WHERE:  Checkin is at 8:15 AM for a 9 AM Departure at Island Packers in Ventura Harbor.  We will be departing the island at 4pm and return back to Ventura at 5pm.

Please visit https://islandpackers.com/information/driving-directions/ if you need more detailed driving directions.

BOOKING:  Please note that we have canceled this trip and will be removing this page shortly.  Please visit Island Packers at https://islandpackers.com/book/ to book your reservation directly. Here are the two options you should choose (you have to pick both):

May 4 outbound - Ventura to Santa Cruz Scorpion's Cove at 9 AM

May 4 inbound - Santa Cruz Scorpion's Cove at 4pm

Please book as soon as you can so that you don't miss out, as reservations on the boat are first come first serve.  (There is only one return option left!)  Please let Kathleen know once you have booked so that I can coordinate and provide any updates.

If you have any questions about how to book, please reach out to Kathleen Lilly at church.  I can help walk you through it and/or help you book.  You may also call Island Packers at 805-642-1393.

If you need to cancel, please do so with Island Packers. You will need to give a 5 day notice if you have a small group, but a longer notice if you have more than 19 in your group.

WHAT ARE THE RATES?:

Day Fares – EACH One Way:

  • Adult (13-54): $33.00
  • Senior (55 and up): $30.50
  • Military: $30.50
  • Child (3-12): $23.50
  • Infant (under 3): $0.00

WILL THERE BE FOOD OR WATER AVAILABLE?

You will need to pack all of the food and water you wish to consume. There is no food available on the island.  There is limited water available on the island, but you will need to hike to a campsite to get it (so I don't recommend it unless it's an emergency).

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

In addition to food and water, Island Packers suggests bringing flat shoes with rubber soles, layered clothing (colder on boat, warmer on land), a hat, sunglasses, backpack, sea sickness medicine if you think you will get sea sick, and anything else you think you might need for your day trip.  Please see https://islandpackers.com/santa-cruz-island/ for more information.

WILL WE BE MEETING UP ON THE ISLAND?

Yes!  We will do an (optional) group hike, and also have a meet up spot for lunch (also optional).  More details will be provided once we get closer to the date.

WHAT IF I WANT TO STAY LONGER?

You can! You are welcome to book the earlier time slot or even book a camping trip.  I will give you times of when we'll be landing, where we will hike, and a lunch spot if you want to spend time on your own and then meet up with us.
